What kind of internet connection do I need to take the IBP Exam?

Internet Speed Requirements

It is strongly recommended that candidates connect to the internet via Ethernet on exam day instead of via wifi to reduce likelihood of disconnections and interference.

What happens if my internet connection cuts out during the exam?

The candidate is responsible for ensuring that a strong and stable internet connection is established before taking the exam. It is strongly recommended that candidates turn off their computer's wifi connection and connect to the internet via an Ethernet cable. All candidates are required to test their system using the same computer, location and internet connection they plan to use on Exam Day with both the proctoring service and the testing platform.

If the internet connection is interrupted or cuts out during the exam, the exam platform will not be disrupted and time will continue to run. However, every disconnection will be noted by the proctor as a potential exam violation and will be reviewed after Exam Day. The proctoring system will automatically attempt to reconnect for short, intermittent drop outs.

For extended disconnections longer than a few seconds, the candidate is responsible for reconnecting with the proctor in a timely fashion and the keystrokes of the candidate will be analyzed upon submission of the exam to ensure no violations occurred (tracked by our testing platform). The proctor will have your email and phone number on file should there be prolonged disconnections and will reach out to help remedy the situation as quickly as possible.

The IBP Institute gives a maximum grace period of 15 minutes (total) to re-connect before you run the risk of invalidating your exam.  This 15 minute grace period is for the entire 4-hour examination.  If you are not reconnected with the proctor within 15 minutes, the exam may not be graded, however, we do suggest you continue to take the exam.  The IBP Institute reserves the right to cancel a candidate's exam upon investigation (even for interruptions of less than 15 minutes) should our investigation of the recordings and keystrokes reveal any potential violations.

The IBP Institute will make a determination on a case by case basis if it is necessary to cancel an Exam due to an evacuation, natural disaster, acts of military, political or government authority, or "Acts of God".  Should such a cancellation occur, the IBP Institute will make every effort to notify candidates as soon as possible.

If we have to change the date or cancel the Exam in a particular region, the IBP Institute will make every effort to provide advance notice and inform the candidates of the new Exam date and/or additional options.

A weak internet connection or frequently dropped connection during the exam will not justify a refund.
