Developing the IBP Program

The IBP Institute works with financial institutions, psychometricians and financial training providers to ensure that the IBP Credential represents a body of knowledge that addresses topics and concepts most applicable to the investment banking profession. The IBP Program Development Committee (PDC) is the committee that oversees the IBP Body of Knowledge (BOK) and the IBP Examination.

The Program Development Committee is looking for practitioners and members of academia to provide feedback and help ensure the IBP Body of Knowledge continues to reflect current and evolving industry best practices. To volunteer, please contact us at

The PDC is tasked with the assembly and maintenance of the BOK. Input from industry is solicited through interviews and surveys. The PDC actively engages the following constituencies:

  • Practitioners
  • Learning & Development Professionals
  • Academia
  • Training Providers
  • Regulators

In addition, the PDC oversees the development of all test items in the IBP Examination, practice exams and approved training providers, and is charged with ensuring that examinations effectively assess candidate’s mastery of the BOK.

The PDC employs test design processes using both internal staff item writers and external industry practitioners. The Caviart Group assists the PDC in ensuring that exam development adheres to psychometric best practices.
