Our Mission

The IBP Institute seeks to develop common standards of practice and promote greater transparency and professional excellence for the investment banking profession. Through collaboration with practitioners, regulators and academia, the IBP Institute will champion the establishment of best practices and professional excellence, balancing the needs of both clients and advisors.

Due to the success of the initial IBP pilot program, the IBP Exam was administered to 5 investment banks in the summer of 2016 and to 8 investment banks in the summer of 2017.

Established in 2015, the IBP Institute is a joint venture of Wall Street education firms Wall Street Prep, Financial Edge and Wall Street Oasis whose goal is to develop an industry examination that predicts success on the job.

In the summer of 2015, a pilot examination was launched at three investment banks to the incoming analyst and summer analyst classes. Due to the success of the initial pilot, the exam was administered to 5 investment banks in the summer of 2016 and to 8 investment banks in the summer of 2017. Registration opened to the public in late 2017.

Since its founding, The IBP Institute has grown to include the industry’s leading practitioners, learning and development professionals and training providers. The IBP Institute collaborates with practitioners, academia, regulators and psychometricians to ensure that the IBP credential represents a body of knowledge most applicable to the investment banking profession.
